Be not afraid of growing slowly be afraid only of standing still.
“Oi, you don’t happened to know a place around ‘ere that I can get booze, do ya?” A typical way for him to pass time, even if he was lost, the swordsman held a rather bored expression on ones face. “Kinda parch, if ya know what I mean. It’s been almost three days since I’ve tried to find a damn port around here, folks been giving me wrong directions.”
A quick run down the mountain usually didn’t take him too long. Picking up prime PROVISIONS for dinner was ideal & this provience, at this time of the year, yielded plentiful crops. His bags were filled with fresh produce & he seemed bothered NONE with how he managed to SLIP & SLIDE through the traffic. In fact, he was about to do the same thing until the gentleman managed to see him & thus, address him. Shiryu came to a halt—huh. Usually, he could WEAVE without being seen no problem & yet, not with him. Not many were preceptive, especially to the movement of a SAINT.
❛ Wait– ❜ He started, brows furrowing as his bang somewhat covered his features but not enough to make him blind to the other. ❛ Are you looking for a bar or the dock? You said port but mentioned liquor—they’re not at the same place. ❜
❛ Ah–! ❜ he mused at that; a lighthearted CHUCKLE following suit. ❛ Oh, I don’t know about that but, I DO appreciate the sentiment. ❜ He shook his head. ❛ I don’t believe we’ve been FORMALLY introduced without Seiya. ❜ He said, motioning to bow his head somewhat in a nodding fashion. ❛ I’m Shiryu. Pleasure to say hello. ❜
❝ I see. ❞ Saori remained silent for a while. There was a time when her grandfather, Kido Mitsumasa, used to tell her about his trips when he was still alive; especially when he traveled to Greece. The old man used to travel a lot when Saori was a baby and a little girl. She was never allowed to leave the mansion by herself; Saori only traveled a few times, though she always did the course of going to school and back home until she completed 16 years old and now, the girl just stays in the Sanctuary at Greece. Leaving it only when it’s really necessary and going to her mansion in Japan or any other place where the Kido family has a house, always with some company. ❝ You really should go with the others next time they decide to go out. ❞ Sometimes some fresh air is good for a saint.
The sound in the air was LIGHT & could be described as a F O R E I G N to most people. It was laughter. It was tiny & sudden, like a chuckle but, that’s what it was. The ODDITY of it all was that it came from the usual monotone & one note dragon saint. ❛ Ah, ❜ He breathed out, his features lightening at the notion. ❛ You know, Seiya said something along the same lines. ❜
Shiryu turned up his head in some thought, thinking back to the conversation & raising a finger to LINGER on the side of his cheek. ❛ Although, ❜ he continued, ❛ he made it seem as though he’ll come back one day & find me DEHYDRATED & DEADin a corner somewhere with a book in hand—-some choice words like that. ❜ The saint shook his head with a shrug. Something DRAMATIC & IDIOTIC. ❜ & yet, he found it ENDEARING. Ah, Seiya. Never change.
“Well, at least I hope so! Now I probably should stop teasing him, shouldn’t I?” Shun chuckles. Not that he’s doing it out of bad intentions in the first place, he just couldn’t stop himself.
❛ Oh, how bad is a little TEASING? ❜ Usually, it was HE who was the voice of reason & the one the saints went to when they needed to either be told if something is RIGHT OR WRONG or if to be told to STOP from making a bad decision. ❛ You usually want to stop by the time he starts POUTING & TURNING RED LIKE A TOMATO. ❜
At that he grins, “Thanks, Shiryuu-kun! Guess I can finally ask Hyoga-kun to hang out now and have him understand that it is supposed to be a date!”
❛ WHAT A CONCEPT. ❜ His chuckle was very small. ❛ Hopefully the message will now be translated & you won’t need to spell it out anymore. I think he’ll get the message LOUD & CLEAR from now on. ❜
It truly was the LITTLE THINGSthat made people happy, was it not? & he was no different. Adult was he & held no need for gifts that would’ve been more SUITABLE for children. & yet, Shiryu found himself looking down at the gift; a smile ETCHING itself somewhat across his features. Do not change, Shun. How darker this world would be without such a light.
❛ How nice it is to see a familiar face & an unfamiliar one but, welcomed to be sure. How have you been, Shun? ❜ @purest-saint
Shun’s soft laughter chimed like a bell and he nodded in agreement, “I guess you’re right. But it does make you wonder, doesn’t it? If having an ulterior motive for the sake of your friends counts as being selfish?”
It was a question that Shun often pondered. The reality was that his friends, as well as his own peace of mind, were often the motives for letting go of any negativity he might have. These were the motives that made him go out of his way to be kind. “I heard once,” he continued, “that even Avarice itself might nit be considered an inherently bad thing, in a sense. Everybody has Wants and Greed of their own, but if those Wants are things like happiness for yourself, wealth for your family, the safety of your friends… Well, then those might be forgivable forms of selfishness as well, right?”
❛ To want something is human nature, would it not be seen as ABNORMAL to want nothing at all? Even the act of doing things for others beside yourself at the cost of anything &EVERYTHING is a want. Hell, one can even ARGUE that wanting nothing at all is still, a WANT. ❜ These were the types of conversations Shiryu THRIVED on. He had never been the type to enjoy small talk; he found they ended far too quickly & only covered things that he figured were inane. Some people might find conversations like this to be a bit too existential for their liking & that was fine.
He gave it a bit of thought, weighing the VALUE of his words before answering again. ❛ I think the want to help someone only becomes GREEDY when it is done more for yourself than it is for others. ❜ Shiryu’s arms folded comfortably against his chest. ❛ I mean think about it. ❜ He started. ❛ When you do things for others, you feel good, right? ❜ Came the question. ❛ But, do you do it CONSCIOUSLY in order to make yourself feel good? Or is it justINSTINCTUAL? The difference falls in the CONSCIOUSNESS. Your good deeds no longer are seen as that when you do it more to SATISFY yourself; your own WANT to feel good outweighs the joy you get out of helping. Its a fine line, I feel. But, the distinction can be made. ❜
❛ If that is a form of SELFISHNESS, then I think this is the only time being selfish is forgivable. ❜ In this world, with the lives they lead, there was no ROOMto be negative. In fact, at one point, they figured there was barely room for ANYTHING anymore. & yet, somehow, they found balance, even if it was small. Tiny things managed to make the day better than it was yesterday. @musesofmagnificence cont.
