Be not afraid of growing slowly be afraid only of standing still.
every time this happened, Inuyasha didn’t know how to handle it. it was a rather recent thing, although if anyone asked him how or when their squabbling and fighting started to evolve into … whatever this was, the half demon would have no idea. but somewhere along the line, their distaste and enmity for each other had chipped away to reveal … something else. he couldn’t really call it friendship, maybe more like rivalry? but then moments like this occurred and it threw everything into question again— the kind of question that Inuyasha was terrible at figuring out the answer to.
❛❛ damn it, Shiryu !cut it out … ❜❜ the hanyō huffed with exasperated irritation as the dragon began nibbling on his ears, one of the most sensitive parts of his entire body, and also the one people most often liked to play with— which annoyed him to no end, and Shiryu was no exception. of course, he could just tack that onto a very long list of things the other did to get under his skin.
despite his protests though, the halfbreed doesn’t seem to be in any pain. normally the touch hurt, because the people who made a grab for them didn’t know how sensitive they were, but this was … actually kind of pleasant— WEIRD, but pleasant. it sent a chill down his spine, and caused goosebumps to pepper along his skin … and the realization of how his body is starting to respond prompts Inuyasha to try and get away, squirming under the dragon’s mischievous affections.
❛❛ h— hey, hey, ❜❜ his voice comes out heavier and huskier than he remembered, his breathing having quickened a bit beyond his notice. he was flustered, and the dog demon didn’t even know why. well, besides the fact that IT’S ALL SHIRYU’S DAMN FAULT. ❛❛ y’dumb fuckin’ reptile, don’t do that! ❜❜
❛ Mmm~ ❜ he chuckled; the faint GRAZING of well hidden fangs against sensitive skin. He could fell him of course. TREMBLING lightly while attempting to hide the fact that such an invasive action was happening. Of course, this is not the eating most would assume when they hear that threat thrown around accompanied by a thunderous roar. One would assume that a jaw would extend—DISLOCATE, even & swallow the other party whole. Oh, he’d swallow him alright. In due time. Why rush when the JOURNEY was just as thrilling as the endgame? No rush whatsoever.
❛ My oh my. ❜ Eyes could be seen faintly through dark eyelashes. He was watching, observing. Always watching. As INVIGORATING it was to torment ( only with the added exploration of whatever this was ), even Shiryu found himself almost INCAPPABLE of stopping. Was it out of spite? A means to play? Ah—well, this was indeed an invitation to a specific type of GAME indeed. ❛ You say stop while you huff huff huff but– ❜ Shiryu broke contact with the ear briefly. H E A T E D was his breath against slightly damp skin & hair, cooling in the gentle breeze. ❛ I do wonder, if your HUFFFING is for undisclosed reasons. ❜
His chest to the other’s clothed back he leaned, only giving the other SOME of his weight to support while he continued to hover over his quivering, inaudible prey. ❛ Oh come now~ ❜ He hummed again staying close to that cornered ear as his voice dripped with almost PROVOCATIVE SENSUALITYfor added effect. ❛ How many times have we done this DANCE? A touch here, a graze there—did you not think that one day such things will come to a head? ❜ How far could he push this envelope? How RUFFLED can he make that fur? So much bark in him; so much fight—a fire that found its target in the dragon several times, all meant to be not to be taken SERIOUSLY. Playful, flirtatious banter.A SONG OF FIRE & WATER. ❛ Is this not what you thought? Are you, dare I say, UNCOMFORTABLE? ❜
"oi. piss off, lizard. m'tryin' t'get some shut-eye 'ere."
the hanyō barks down at his unwelcome visitor, resting up above along a tree branch. its in the middle of the day, and he's not too tired, but now's a good a time as any to catch some Z's. Shiryu, on the other hand, seemed to decide it was the perfect time to harass the half-demon.
THE NERVE. THE GALL. THE GUMPTION & THE AUBSOLUTE AUDACITY that comes just from the breath of this mutt. As he looked up seeing only the bottom of the hanyō & some flecks of SILVER that flew in the wind. Shiryu felt the top of his brow twitch in agitation. ❛ Says the being who has the nerve to set himself up on MY MOUNTAIN. ❜ Now now Shiryu, be fair. This was not the top of the mountain—it was the bottom base of it. Once in a blue moon, the dragon would find himself shockingly BORED of his surroundings & venture down; he mingled with the village folk & learned from them through various QUESTIONS & CURIOSITIESjust what time of the year it was. This was his only means of keeping track of time. His head turned some—his eye fixed on the other who would NOT get any sleep while he was awake. ❛ You’re here. Where is your human caretaker. I dare not think she’s allowed you to venture off on your own for TOO long. ❜
the half-demon crosses his arms over his chest, closing one eye and keeping the other to watch the dragon. though inuyasha had no doubts that if he really wanted to, the other would eat him — and only if inuyasha decided not to put up a fight. but they needed each other, as much as inuyasha hated it. he’d rather work with just group than someone he wasn’t sure he could trust.
"ya still need me, y'spineless bastard. otherwise you would’ve gobbled me up a long time ago. ‘sides, don’t think it’ll be that easy to take me down. maybe once we finish this and find that demon, we can see who really comes out on top.”
❛ I need not the help of you. I gave myWORDto the archer that I will not ingest you & I aim to KEEP that. ❜ Pride would not allow him to give the dog the SATISFACTION he wanted. Up his nose went, walking past the other down the path to their next destination. Tomes were his favorite pastimes to collect; a well of KNOWLEDGE & LORE was he & ever thirsty for more. Read it once & burn the remains. The only copy to be left in the world was he. It made Shiryu aHEFTY prize for those seeking to absorb his soul. Who truly was to think that the inu-hanyou was ANY different.
His eye was always on him, even if it was sometimes HALF-LIDDED. ❛ Yes—I heard of this one. ❜ He breathed out, making sure not to let his strides become WIDER than he needed to be, not wanting to leave the other in the dust. Why, he might think he was trying to GET AWAY from him. Perish the thought. Contrary to popular belief & his own rhetoric towards the other, this was the most FUN Shiryu has had awake in a long time. ❛ I can’t say I know its name; I don’t care too much for other Yokais—especially KAPPA, of all things. ❜
𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐓 ! kaede obaa-chan requested the young maiden to go collect a fair amount of said herb ; she’d planned to create a few tinctures to have ready on hand. being the head priestess she was , it was kaede’s duty to oversee and take care of all the villagers. what better way to be prepared now than sorry later !
❛ you know if it ? i just need a few … ❜ curiosity now piqued in her tone ; the young miko’s guard is up , but begins to lower. kagome nears him and crouches towards the greenery , a handful of valerian root gathered within moments. his aura isn’t necessarily a bad one , but … posture adjusts , kagome takes a stand and faces the male now. ❛ you said you’re passing through , but this area is closely knit and i gotta say , i’ve never seen you around before. ❜
Shiryu made no sudden movements nor did he give off the IMPRESSION that he felt invaded as she reached over for the plants. In fact, his eyes WATCHED as she took it & just how she did it. Would she pluck the leaves or take it from the actual ROOT & harvest it that way? Many took to gathering herbs wrong & missed out on so much from it if their foraging skills were not UP TO PAR. Maybe he was being a bit too METICULOUS but his gaze did not drop from her fingers. They bore CALLOUSES on them, but just on the THUMB, INDEX & MIDDLEalthough the middle wasn’t as heavy. AN ARCHER.
Shiryu did not turn his face fully to look up at her but there was ACKNOWLEDGMENT from him. ❛ Is it now — my my, it must have been QUITE A LONG TIME since I’ve been here last. I do not follow the changes when it comes to my surroundings, you see. I seldom register the CHANGING SEASONS when I wake. ❜ It was at this proclamation now, that Shiryu placed hands on his knees & made the motion to stand until he was fully upright. The man was (to some) an INTIMIDATING height. He towered over most & that could amplify his terrifying presence if he went through the trouble to be MENACING. He fully turned to face her but moved not to be too close to her—there was no reason to rattle. ❛ Does my presenceDISTURB you & the village you inhabit? I bring with me NO INTENT to cause chaos but, if that does little to quell UNCERTAINTY, I will quietly pass through with no bearing of teeth. ❜
DARK SMOKE EXHALES // FROM THE MOUNTAIN HALF // && THE WIND BLOWS THROUGH LINING PATHS // SKIES CLEAR AS DAY // SHALL SOON BE FILLED WITH RAIN // && YOU’LL KNOW // YOU’VE FOUND HIS HOME…
& far from his mountain top he was —- far from the den he called his forever home (in every sense of the word). How the world around him had changed, but not by too much. It was greener now, SPRING WAS AMONG THEM & his body ached to rise, even for just a little while. Fear of others laid never present on his body, whether it be off wet, effervescent scales or within forlorn eyes that bared the shade of emerald. They called for something his mouth dare not speak; LONGED for something that had yet to come. & so, he was meant to WAIT. WAIT & GATHER. For the pursuant of knowledge does not stop, not for FRIEND NOR ENEMY—NOT EVEN FOR DEATH.
THE HORDE SHALL CONTINUE TO GROW SO LONG AS BREATH IS NEEDED. He sat tall, stout from muscle that looked to be invisible with his clothing choice. A cascade of ebony fell down his back, covering most of his body from view. Had he made no motion to move, one would assume that it was an animal, a creature that bore far too much hair for its own good. But, perceptive was she & polite in nature; a SOOTHINGnature, foreign almost in concept. How long had it been since HOSTILITY wasn’t the first emotion expressed to him? Far too long. No matter the century, MANY did not opt to change. No man. No demon. No hunter. Naive? She? Possibly.
❛ Valerian root. A sleeping herb. I did not know it grew this close to the foot. ❜ Shiryu made no motion to move. She SMELLEDhuman but other scents lingered within her fabrics. PUTRID odors that belonged not to her—ah, whatFILTHY company. ❛ Take it. I will not BITE, that I assure you. ❜ His head turned just enough so that a lone eye was visible to her, half his face no longer hidden by the waterfall of hair. ❛ There is no need for caution—I look to not hurt. I am just…passing through. ❜ @timewove
