Contrary to popular belief, Shiryu has the capacity to be a Grade A Asshole. Now, don’t get him wrong; he is not one to be an asshole off the bat if there is no reason for it. Actually, he is quite nice. He’s attentive, a good listener and is usually the first person anyone ever goes to for advice. However, he doesn’t take kindly to people who like to condescend nor people who believe that snapping at him and attempting to bully him will get them their way. Shiryu has always been good at separating his feelings from his thought process. He is not the type to allow his feelings to dictate whether or not what he is about to say is the right things. When people ask him for advice on something, he deems it to be completely independent from his opinion (his opinion will tend to have more feeling behind it rather an his analytical standpoint for his advice). But, Shiryu can pick up when people are being either directly irritating and nasty to him or indirectly.

He is very perceptive and has quite a bit of patience; tending to give the person in question the benefit of the doubt for quite a bit hoping that they will straighten their ways. But, the continuous badgering will indeed have negative effects. Not only does he pay close attention to everything you say, he pays even closer attention to how you are when you say it. He has an annoying knack (as stated by Seiya) for studying a person’s body language and tends to pick up positives and negatives depending on what they say and how their body reacts when they say it (i.e. dilating pupils, arm folding, tapping, etc). This comes in handy when speaking to someone who doesn’t seem to grasp the simple concept of don’t bite the hand that feeds. Insecurities leak out when we least expect them to and they become blood in the water; blood he smells when you act out of line.

Shiryu (besides Shun most likely) is the last person to snap at someone. But, if he does, he doesn’t argue back. He starts out subtle with little side swipes here and there that you have to be perceptive enough in order to catch on. If such the irrefutable attitude continues on then he will indeed be directly nasty; taking shots at each and every insecurity he has picked up on (he tends to omit really hurtful things and stray away from things such as assault, abuse, things of that nature since even he, in this state, sees that as disgusting potshots. He will more than likely go for self-esteem, intellect, and ego since that seems to be the easiest things to break for a lot of people). Shiryu is very good at turning off his feelings; they’ve become like a switch for him and so, when he’s thrown in the towel from trying to care, he lets it be known by every shot he takes. When he doesn’t care anymore, he REALLY doesn’t care anymore.

There is a reason we don’t piss of Mama Dragon.
