Established 2015 & Penned by Brooklyn.
Be not afraid of growing slowly be afraid only of standing still.
❝ … and then she snapped at me to get out of the way because I was
blocking the view , and when I replied
that I was the view , she called me something most unsavoury that I’d
rather not say and walked off. ❞ The
sigh heaved couldn’t be described as anything other than dreamy. WISTFUL. Forlorn gaze staring blankly out the window, completely oblivious to whether or not his company was even actively
listening to his fateful ( two-minute ) encounter recounted at length. ❝ I
think we had a CONNECTION. Shiryu
, what if I never see her again ?? ❞
LOGIC DICTATES that he look to Soma & tell him plainly ‘you knew her for all of two minutes—I HIGHLY doubt there was a connection’ however, a STIFF tongue kept Shiryu from putting a damper on Soma & his delusions. His hands held the flattened teapot gently, raising it & tilting it to fill the cups with water that held a DEEP violet tone to it; the air being now perfumed with scents of POMEGRANTE, BLUEBERRY & ACAI. He pushed it to the other from behind the dining table nestled on the ground. ❛ If it is meant to be, Soma-kun, then it shall be. There is no reason to force things that will happen in their own time. If it doesn’t, then you KNOWthat it was not & in that, a BLESSING can be found instead of forlorn. ❜
Tell us about your mun and do you get along with her?
❛ You want to know ofBROOKLYN? Well, There really isn’t much to say about her. She works most of the time hence why she is not around TOO OFTEN. I cannot help but ADMIRE the drive but sometimes I do worry that she will work herself into the ground. I wouldn’t say there isn’t much that we don’t agree on & from what I’ve gathered, not a lot of people have anything NEGATIVE to say about her. I am sure she has made her fair share of ENEMIESin some aspects (her mouth does tend to get her into some trouble) but, all in all, she is a solid human being. I do wish sometimes she’d be KINDER to herself. Often times we are not kind to ourselves but we will bend over BACKWARDS to be kind to others. We cannot forget ourselves for if no one is kind to us, the least we can do is be kind to ourselves. ❜
Hey Shiryu! Today’s is my birthday! So can you wish me a good happy birthday?
❛ My sincerest apologies that this is reaching you SO LATE & past the anniversary of your birth. I do hope that it was still a SPLENDID day even if this does come late. NEVERTHELESS, I want to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY but not just for this one. For previous ones. For ones to come. For good ones. For bad ones. For all of them for each loop around the sun is a something toCELEBRATE. So please, continue to celebrate you & your contributions to the world no matter how small. ❜
( There is LIFE that comes from that well & itCALLED with no sound emitting at all. )
He had been new at the school, only started attending for a few months before the end of the year (a last minute addition) & while it had not been difficult to strike up conversation with new faces & fall into the tedium that was class life, confused looks & side whispers did circle the class when his chair stood empty. Sickness was not a foreign concept & many did fall ill to a bug or two that put them out of the classroom for a day or so thus, when it first started happening, no one batted an eyelash. Whenever Shiryu did show up he was normal—he was approachable & although reserved & refined in his mannerisms, he turned none away who asked how he was doing. It was always ‘much better, thank you’.
Then one day absent became two. Two became three. Three became five.
Grades would suffer momentarily before spiking up again ( they swore he was cheating in some way ) & conversations became scarce. There truly was no point in making friends with a figure who never stayed in one place, was there? Nothing could be established without effort on both ends; the effort became more taxing & the reward became less & less appealing. Some figured him sickly & painted a portrait of a person who was emitted into the hospital in the dead of night & released the same way in order to raise no suspicion while others dubbed him a delinquent; lackadaisical when it came to actual class participation & only came to school when it benefitted him. These were all the stories they told themselves. He corrected none of their assumptions; their accusatory whispers.
They didn’t see his bruises. They didn’t smell the dried blood. They saw not the bandages that held his ribs together. They saw not how hard it was for him not to dopple over in pain as that same body of his tried its hardest to repair itself. The cloth could only absorb so much impact & this was fine. They knew what they signed up for. They were soldiers.
They were born to die.
& what little life they were able to have was a blessing—one of many from Athena herself & Shiryu was not one to squander that. So, he’ll come any day he can. He will study and pass even if it was nothing spectacular for that wasn’t the point. This was a chance at something none of them thought they COULD have—life. A chance at life.
Fast forward to the other side of the Chabudai where cups of jasmine infused tea steamed between their opened books that were riddled with notes of various subjects. The invitation did, he’ll admit, shock him jus a small bit ( did she not hear what they said about him? did she not care? ). They were both kind of behind in some subjects & the idea to get caught up together seemed a bit fantasy even with the warmth behind her proposition. Against it he was not. Shiryu agreed to be at the Higurashi residence for 12 PM Saturday.
& show up he did, with two bentos in tow as a thank you.
Two hours passed between the consumption, the greetings & some much needed studying and explanations for what the teacher actually meant when he gave these hellish assignments before a break was agreed upon. ❛ I don’t think his way of describing things are too bad, Kagome-chan. ❜ Shiryu commented as he pulled his book back to place the unopened bento between them & removing the lid to show the contents, sleeves sliding up as he bent his arms back to put the lid at his side.
❛ In fact, ❜ he carried on, ❛ I think the fault lies with us a little bit. I missed a few sessions & learning via second hand information is not always the best. ❜ @tsukihashi
